We’re living in a new era of AI — one where anyone can clone a face, a voice, or a message in minutes. While the tech world races ahead, one thing’s becoming painfully clear: integrity in the video creation space is under threat.

At Vidalytics, I’ve seen this firsthand in our operations. Our mission has always been to help entrepreneurs and marketers use video ethically to drive conversions — not deception. And that means drawing a hard line between innovation and exploitation.

The Deepfake Dilemma

AI can do incredible things — analyze engagement, optimize performance, create content. But the same power can be abused to mislead, impersonate, or defraud. Deepfakes have evolved from novelty filters to tools that can destroy reputations, defraud customers, and spread misinformation at scale.

That’s why platforms that allow this kind of content aren’t just crossing ethical lines — they’re walking into legal landmines.

And regulators are already moving. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has proposed rule-making that would make it unlawful for any company to provide tools or services they know — or should know — are being used to harm consumers through impersonation, including AI-generated deepfakes.

The U.S. Copyright Office has also formally identified “unauthorized digital replicas” as a major emerging threat and has urged Congress to pass legislation to protect individuals from AI-driven misuse of their likeness.

In other words: this isn’t a theoretical risk anymore. The legal landscape is shifting fast — and platforms that allow or ignore deepfake content may soon be on the wrong side of federal regulation.

Where Vidalytics Stands

Let me be clear: Vidalytics does not tolerate, knowingly host or profit from deepfakes. 

In fact, we’ve already taken down hundreds of videos that crossed the line — including entire user accounts that refused to comply. Doing what’s right sometimes means walking away from revenue. Even if it is a lot of it. But, for us, that’s the cost of protecting our users, our platform, and the integrity of the video industry.

While others turn a blind eye to shady content, we’re building the systems to fight it head-on.

Building Tech That Protects Real Marketers & Creators

We’re rolling out new trust and safety technology and procedures that help us detect and shut down deepfakes before they spread. 

This is still in its infancy, and there are still a lot of ways in which the AI landscape is evolving, therefore making it difficult to stay ahead of the curve, but we're doing everything we can to put our money where our proverbial mouth is. 

This is part of a broader push to build automated detection tools that will help us identify harmful content automatically — long before a human moderator ever has to intervene (“using AI for good”, if you will).

We will continue to improve our detection mechanisms, and our internal workflows to stop any harmful or misleading AI content as soon as we're aware of it. This is now part of our company mission, something I take very seriously.

On the other hand, it is unrealistic to expect that a company our size will be able to police every single upload to our platform. So, while broadly accepted systems, regulations and/or laws are put in place by the incumbent institutions, and while the technology gets there to make it easier for companies like ours to automatically identify, report and shut down deepfakes, we will continue using our internal manpower and the help of our amazing user base to keep Vidalytics clean.
